End of another week...sadly people in Wales still dying of Covid...more families grieving...will it never end...?

There have been 2,427 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 753,899. There were 11 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,763The latest infection rate for the seven days up to January 16 now stands at 490.9 cases for every 100,000 people down on the 500.8 recorded on Thursday. The local authority showing the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 10 and January 16 was Newport with 660.1 cases per 100,000 followed by Blaenau Gwent with 598.3 and Neath Port Talbot with 594.5.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 287 cases reported today with 186 in Carmarthenshire, 75 in Pembrokeshire and 26 in Ceredigion. As of January 20 there were 998 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a drop on the 1,012 on January 19.

The weekly update of LFT tests shows a slight increase in positive results...

There have been 2,768 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 751,473. There were 21 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,752The latest infection rate for the seven days up to January 15 is continuing to decrease showing 500.8 cases for every 100,000 people down on the 529.7 recorded on Wednesday. For more information on the Covid figures released on Wednesday go to Wales Online...

The local authority showing the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 9 and January 15 was Newport with 629.1 cases per 100,000 followed by Neath Port Talbot with 616.8 and Carmarthenshire with 694.4.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 287 cases reported today with 172 in Carmarthenshire, 85 in Pembrokeshire and 30 in Ceredigion. As of January 19 there were 1,012 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a drop on the 1,056 on January 18.

People testing positive has slowed down and now appears to having a dramatic change in numbers...Sadly 23 deaths reported today...


There have been 2,136 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 748,708. There were 23 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,731The latest infection rate based on PCR tests, for the seven days up to January 14 is 529.7 cases for every 100,000 people which is down on the 572 recorded on Tuesday. The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 8 and January 14 was Neath Port Talbot with 664.3 cases per 100,000 followed by Newport with 641.3 and Wrexham with 632.6.

There have been 3,975 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 744,717. There were 18 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,707The latest infection rate, based on the seven days up to January 12 is 650.2 cases for every 100,000 people which is a large fall in the 1,109.1 recorded on Sunday. The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 6 and January 12 was Neath Port Talbot with 785 cases per 100,000 followed by Wrexham with 751 and Swansea with 746.6.

Hywel Dda Health Board today reported 476 cases with 325 in Carmarthenshire, 100 in Pembrokeshire and 51 in Ceredigion. As of January 14 there were 1,119 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a drop on the 1,158 on January 13.
