There have been 2,768 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 751,473. There were 21 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,752. The latest infection rate for the seven days up to January 15 is continuing to decrease showing 500.8 cases for every 100,000 people down on the 529.7 recorded on Wednesday. The local authority showing the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 9 and January 15 was Newport with 629.1 cases per 100,000 followed by Neath Port Talbot with 616.8 and Carmarthenshire with 694.4.
Hywel Dda Health Board shows 287 cases
reported today with 172 in
Carmarthenshire, 85 in Pembrokeshire and 30 in
Ceredigion. As of January 19 there were 1,012 people in general and acute
hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a drop
on the 1,056 on January 18.
