There have been 3,975 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 744,717. There were 18 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,707. The latest infection rate, based on the seven days up to January 12 is 650.2 cases for every 100,000 people which is a large fall in the 1,109.1 recorded on Sunday. The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 6 and January 12 was Neath Port Talbot with 785 cases per 100,000 followed by Wrexham with 751 and Swansea with 746.6.
Hywel Dda Health Board today reported 476 cases with 325 in Carmarthenshire, 100 in
Pembrokeshire and 51 in Ceredigion. As of January 14 there were 1,119 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus
(confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a drop on the 1,158 on January 13.
