Higher numbers today than of late...report from PHW covers 72 hours...


There have been 2,628  new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 821,797. There were 16 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 7,033The latest infection rate based on PCR tests for the seven days up to March 3 is now 178 cases for every 100,000 people, a rise from the 156.1 cases recorded on Monday. The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days up to 3rd March was Blaenau Gwent with 247.6 cases per 100,000 people followed by Vale of Glamorgan with 247 and Carmarthenshire with 234.1.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 350 cases reported today with 187 in Carmarthenshire, 111 in Pembrokeshire and 52 in Ceredigion. As of March 3 out of 433 patients in acute hospitals with Covid there were only 75 people actively being treated for Covid in Wales.
