As March 28th gets closer some concerns about the rise in infection rates and a possible new variant...


There have been 1,525  new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 826,010. There were 4 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 7,045The latest infection rate based on PCR tests for the seven days up to March 6 is now 202.1 cases for every 100,000 people a rise from the 194 cases recorded on Thursday. The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days up to March 6 was Blaenau Gwent with 313.5 cases per 100,000 people followed by Vale of Glamorgan with 279.2 and Carmarthenshire with 258.5.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 185 cases reported today with 95 in Carmarthenshire,62 in Pembrokeshire and 28 in Ceredigion. As of March 9, there were 399 patients in acute hospitals with Covid of whom 80 were being treated for Covid in Wales.
