Cardiff leads the field with new case numbers and the infection rate is still rising...not there yet...


There have been 1,508 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 826,010. There were 3 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 7,048The latest infection rate based on PCR tests for the seven days up to March 7 is 217.7 cases for every 100,000 people a rise from the 202.1 cases recorded on Friday. For more information on the Covid figures released on Monday go to Wales Online...


The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days up to March 7 was Blaenau Gwent with 322.1 cases per 100,000 people followed by Vale of Glamorgan with 307.7 and Carmarthenshire with 267.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 199 cases reported today with 102 in Carmarthenshire, 63 in Pembrokeshire and 34 in Ceredigion.  March 9, there were 399 patients in acute hospitals with Covid of whom 80 were being treated for Covid in Wales.
