The data from Public Health Wales, published today covers a 48-hour period...it appears that there is no let up...

There have been 3,382 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 792,667. There were 9 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,872. The latest infection rate based on PCR tests, for the seven days up to January 31, now stands at 466 cases for every 100,000 people a reduction from the 500.5 recorded on Sunday. The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 27 and February was Newport with 618 cases per 100,000, followed by Carmarthenshire with 615 and Cardiff with 545.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 437 cases reported today with 275 in Carmarthenshire, 112 in Pembrokeshire and 50 in Ceredigion. As of February 4 there were 1,127 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus, a rise on the 1,110 on February 3.
