Restrictions lifted from today...Social distancing scrapped but the rules for masks are still in place...


There have been 2,772 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 771,516. There were 6 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,804The latest infection rate based on PCR tests, for the seven days up to January 23, now stands at 516.3 cases for every 100,000 people a rise on the 508.7 recorded on Thursday. The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 17 and January 23 was Newport with 877.3 cases per 100,000, followed by Carmarthenshire with 647.9 and Merthyr Tydfil with 636.5.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 289 cases reported today with 186 in Carmarthenshire, 84 in Pembrokeshire and 19 in Ceredigion. As of January 27 there were 1,072 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a rise on the 1,036 on January 26.
