The Omicron variant is moving apace...60 cases reported today...please be careful out there!!!...

There have been 2,431 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 543,685. There were 10 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW taking the total number of deaths today to 6,501. The infection rate in Wales now stands at 499.8 per 100,000 people a slight rise on the 499.4 reported on Tuesday.  For more information on the Covid figures released on Wednesday go to Wales Online...

The area with the highest infection rate is Anglesey with 711 cases per 100,000 people followed by Wrexham with 630.3 and Denbighshire with 623.9 per 100,000 people. Hywel Dda Health Board shows 148 cases reported today with 62 in Carmarthenshire, 50 in Pembrokeshire and 36 in Ceredigion.

As of December 14, there were 495 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a fall on the 504 reported on December 13.
