Christmas Eve...over 6,500 new positive cases in just one day - a new record...

 

There have been 6,755 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 577,043. There were 10 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has now risen to 6,545. The infection rate in Wales has risen again to 662.3 per 100,000 people a jump on the 633 reported on Thursday.  For more information on the Covid figures released on Friday go to Wales Online...

The areas in Wales with the highest infection rates are Cardiff with 908.1 cases per 100,000 people followed by Anglesey with 903.7 and Vale of Glamorgan with 780 cases per 100,000 people. 

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 773 cases reported today with 283 in Carmarthenshire, 248 in Pembrokeshire and 242 in Ceredigion. As of December 22, there were 444 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a rise on the 436 last reported the day before.
