500,000 cases reached today...news also of another variant causing concern...

 

There have been 2,927 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 501,028. There were coronavirus deaths reported today by PHW so the total number of deaths to date now rises to 6,382. The infection rate in Wales now stands at 494.4 per 100,000 people a drop on the 499.9 reported on Thursday.  For more information on the Covid figures released on Monday go to Wales Online...


The area with the highest infection rate is Gwynedd with 882.3 cases per 100,000 people followed by Vale of Glamorgan with 656.5 and Monmouthshire with 567.7 cases per 100,000 people. Hywel Dda Health Board shows 293 cases reported today with 146 in Carmarthenshire, 111 in Pembrokeshire and 36 in Ceredigion.

As of November 25 there were 589 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a rise on the 587 reported on November 24.
