Infection rate has now reached the highest level since the start of the pandemic...

 

There have been 3,296 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 415,829. There were 11 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,074. The infection rate in Wales now stands at 681.9 per 100,000 people the highest rate ever and a sharp rise from the 651.9 reported on Thursday. For more information on the Covid figures released on Thursday go to Wales Online...

The area with the highest infection rate is Blaenau Gwent with 1,185.2 cases per 100,000 people followed by Torfaen with 1000.4 and Caerphilly with 961.5 cases per 100,000 people. Hywel Dda Health Board shows 425 cases reported today with 179 in Carmarthenshire, 178 in Pembrokeshire and 68 in Ceredigion.

Covid-19 vaccine update: 2,421,700 people in Wales have now had their first dose of the vaccine. 2,238,258 people in Wales are now fully vaccinated.  In addition, 322,591 people have now also received their booster vaccination.
