Wales' highest infection rate since the pandemic started recorded today...Think the tunnel has no exit...

 

There have been 3,152 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 418,980. There were 12 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,086. The infection rate in Wales now stands at 716.9 per 100,000 people and a steep rise from the 681.9 reported on Friday, setting a new record for Wales' highest infection rate since the pandemic started. The area with the highest infection rate is Blaenau Gwent with 1,315.5 cases per 100,000 people followed by Caerphilly with 1,080.8 and Neath Port Talbot with 1,037.6 cases per 100,000 people. Hywel Dda Health Board shows 356 cases reported today with 126 in Carmarthenshire, 140 in Pembrokeshire and 90 in Ceredigion.

Covid-19 vaccine update: 2,421,700 people in Wales have now had their first dose of the vaccine. 2,238,954 people in Wales are now fully vaccinated.  322,591 people have now also received their booster vaccination.
