We must wait to see what changes are made in Wales...


The latest update from Public Health Wales (PHW) reports 689 more positive cases to bring the total to 221,785. The additional Covid death means the overall total now stands at 5,578. Wales' infection rate has risen to 103.2 cases per 100,000 people based on the seven days between June 25 and July 1 up on 95.6 on Monday. It's the first time that it has been over 100 since February 7.

The area with the highest infection rate in Wales is Wrexham with 230.2 cases per 100,000 people, up from 213.3 cases on Monday. This is followed by Flintshire with 213.3 and Denbighshire with 156.7. The percentage of tests coming back positive across Wales over the last week is now 5.8%, up from 5.5% reported on Monday. Wrexham has almost double this at a rate of 10.7%.


There are now 121 people across Wales in general and acute hospital beds with confirmed 50, suspected 33 or recovering 38 cases of coronavirus up substantially on the 81 recorded the day before. Cardiff and Vale UHB has the most with 27, followed by Aneurin Bevan UHB with 21, Betsi Cadwaladr UHB with 19, Cwm Taf Morgannwg with 12, and Hywel Dda with 2. Swansea Bay currently has no Covid cases in its hospitals.
