Wales has recorded another 1,256 positive cases of coronavirus and 2 new deaths in the latest figures covering a 48-hour period. The latest update from Public Health Wales (PHW), covers the two days from 9am on Friday, July 2, to 9am on Sunday, July, 4. It shows the overall Covid death toll has risen to 5,577, and the total number of cases now stands at 221,087.
Wales'
infection rate has risen to 95.6 per 100,000 population based on the 7 days between June 24 and June
30 up on the 81.1 on Sunday.
The
area with the highest infection rate in Wales is Wrexham with 213.3 cases per 100,000 people, up from 167.7
cases on Sunday. This is followed by Flintshire with 203.7 and Denbighshire with 159.9.
Cardiff reported the most new cases on Monday with 158, followed by Wrexham with 114, Flintshire at 95 and Rhondda Cynon Taf reported 87, while Caerphilly was next with 79.
Conwy had 68, Carmarthenshire had 61, Newport had 57 and Swansea had 54.
Powys recorded 44 new cases while
Monmouthshire recorded 43, Bridgend,
Vale of Glamorgan and Torfaen all had 37.
Anglesey and Gwynedd both had 36,
Pembrokeshire had 28, Neath Port
Talbot had 27 and Blaenau Gwent had 23. Ceredigion had the least amount of
new cases at 12 up from one on the
following day.
