The figures released today cover the 24-hour period up to 9am on Friday.
A further 535 people have tested positive for coronavirus but no new deaths have been reported, Public Health Wales figures have shown. Wales' case rate is 81.1 per 100,000 people, up from the 71.1 reported on Friday. The total number of Covid cases reported in Wales reached 219,831 and total deaths remained at 5,575. While case rates continue to climb, numbers of Covid patients in Wales' hospitals have fallen to a record low.
The
number of new cases reported was 149
in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area and 125 in Cardiff and Vale. The local authority with the highest case
rate in Wales was Flintshire with 183.9 cases
per 100,000 people for the seven-day
period up to 28 June. It is one of six areas which now have rates of 100 or above, alongside Wrexham 167.7, Denbighshire 159.9, Conwy 104.1, Gwynedd 111.6 and
Cardiff 120.2. The lowest case rates
are in Merthyr Tydfil 31.5, Newport 27.8 and Ceredigion 35.8.
