End of another week...cases amongst the younger generation are showing higher...get the vaccination...it will help...

 

Public Health Wales has reported 570 more people testing positive for coronavirus, but no further deaths. Wales' case rate is 71.1 per 100,000 people, up from 66.5 on Thursday, the highest since 23 February. On Friday, the total number of Covid cases reported in Wales reached 219,296 and total deaths remained at 5,575. While case rates continue to climb, numbers of Covid patients in Wales' hospitals have fallen to a record low. PHW has confirmed that the Delta variant has now replaced other strains of coronavirus as the dominant variant in all health board areas.

Of the new cases, the highest was reported in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area at 165 followed by Cardiff and Vale 119. The local authority with the highest case rate in Wales was Flintshire with 161.4 cases per 100,000 people for the seven-day period up to 27 June. It is one of six areas which now have rates of 100 or above, alongside Wrexham 147.8, Denbighshire 146.3, Conwy 102.4, Gwynedd 102 and Cardiff 100. The lowest case rates are in Merthyr Tydfil 23.2, Newport 24.6 and Powys 27.9.
