Start of the week with 1 death...first for 10 days...Covid -19 has not taken a break...

There has been 1 reported death with coronavirus in Wales, ending a run of 10 days without one, reports Public Health Wales. There were 75 new positive cases reported, taking the total confirmed cases in Wales to 213,166. The total number of deaths in Wales since the outbreak began stands at 5,570. The death occurred in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area. The case rate in Wales has edged up to 9.39 per 100,000 over seven days.

Conwy continues to have the highest case rate in Wales and it has risen to 30.7 cases per 100,000. Denbighshire and Swansea are the same with 14.6, while Gwynedd stands at 14.5. Vale of Glamorgan, Merthyr Tydfil and Blaenau Gwent, all have very low case rates with three or fewer case of confirmed Covid in the past seven days.


Covid-19 vaccine update: 2,183,455 people in Wales have now had their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. 1,249,268 people are now fully vaccinated.
