Numbers today are updated taking into account there was no reporting yesterday....

Figures released on Sunday cover 24 hours up to 09:00 on Friday. Two thirds of the positive tests reported on Sunday involve people under 30, with a third aged under 20.

Wales' Covid infection and test positivity rates have risen further as one more person has died and 416 people have tested positive for coronavirus. Public Health Wales said Wales' case rate is now 41.6 per 100,000 people while the positivity rate is up to 3.1% the highest rates since March. The latest figures bring the total number of Covid cases in Wales to 216,782 and total deaths to 5,575.

The latest death happened on 23 June in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area in North Wales. The highest case rates for the seven day period leading up to 21 June were in North Wales with Flintshire with 120.4 cases per 100,000 people, Conwy 87.9, Denbighshire 83.6 and Wrexham 66.2. The lowest were seen in Merthyr Tydfil 9.9, Newport 16.2 and Blaenau Gwent 18.6.

Of the new positive cases, 60 were in Cardiff with 41 in Flintshire, 30 in Swansea, 29 in Gwynedd and 27 in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Wales' national case rate was below 10 a month ago while the positivity rate was below 1% but both have risen since and PHW have warned of concern over a significant increase in cases across Wales.  Incident director Dr Giri Shankar said on Friday that case rates were now doubling every seven to 10 days and PHW is closely monitoring whether hospitalisations will increase.

Covid-19 vaccine update: 2,252,270 people in Wales have now had their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. 1,618,476 people are now fully vaccinated.

Thought for the Day…

There's still a chance you could catch coronavirus after being vaccinated. Your symptoms might be mild, but you could pass it to someone else and make them seriously ill. Even if you've had the vaccine, you should still get a test if you have symptoms.
