Public Health Wales has reported 281 more
people testing positive for coronavirus, but no further deaths with the virus. The figures show Wales' case rate is now 59 per 100,000 people,
up from 53 on Monday. On Tuesday,
the total number of Covid cases reported in Wales reached 217,732 and total deaths remained at 5,575.
Of the new cases, the most were reported in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health
Board area 95, Cardiff and Vale 47 and by the Aneurin Bevan health
board 39. The local authority with
the highest case rate in Wales is Flintshire with 145.4 cases per 100,000
for the seven-day period leading up to 24 June. It is one of three areas that
now have rates over 100, followed by
Denbighshire with 112.9 and Wrexham
with 112.5. The lowest case rates
can be seen in Merthyr Tydfil 21.5,
Newport 22.6 and Powys 27.2.
Almost four million tests have now been carried out in Wales
since the pandemic began.
