Weekend figures...Well done to Welsh Labour...The road to normality is ahead...

No further deaths with Covid-19 have been reported in Wales, according to Public Health Wales (PHW). It means the total number of deaths reported by PHW since the start of the pandemic remains at 5,552. A further 54 people have tested positive, with 11 in Cardiff and 5 in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The total number of people in Wales who have tested positive now stands at 211,827.

The seven-day rate of infection stands at 8.8 cases for every 100,000 people in Wales, the lowest since 28 August. About 95% of local communities in Wales have had fewer than two cases or no Covid cases reported over the last week.

Newport has the highest number in Wales with 22.6 cases per 100,000 people and it is the 90th highest in the UK. It has seen small pockets of cases across the city, including Somerton and Malpas. Sketty in Swansea is also seen as a hotspot with nine cases in the last seven days. Five local authority areas of Wales are in the lowest 20 in the UK for Covid cases, including Blaenau Gwent. Denbighshire is showing among three UK areas on zero but a few cases have since been reported and will show up in data the next few days.

The figures also show the number of individuals given a first dose of a Covid vaccine is now  at 1,922,881 which is 61% of the Welsh population. A total of 842,047 people (26.7%) have had the full two-dose course.
