There are no updates posted by Public Health Wales on Saturday so all the numbers will be here tomorrow...But instead please read my thoughts on the Welsh Labour success yesterday after the vote on Thursday...
If you woke up this morning and
needed proof that Welsh Labour took the right road through the pandemic roadmap
then you only have to look at the results of the Senedd elections that were
announced yesterday after a polling day that showed that the people of the
great nation of Wales were prepared to queue up to cast their votes. All the
rhetoric coming from Plaid Cymru/Conservatives and the minor parties with no
real political clout has proved to be a lot of hot air. The results at the
ballot box matter and by the deliverance of the majorities in some areas, the return
of members and the election of new members of the Senedd it has shown that
although there is no appetite for Labour in England at present there is
certainly faith in Welsh Labour by the electorate of Wales at this time.
Over the past couple of years there
has been a shift by some elected representatives from the Welsh Labour party in
Llanelli and other areas thinking it would give them some sort of impetus to
get elected to the flags of Independent and Conservative hoping that this move
will unsettle the local political landscape but they have been proved wrong. In
Llanelli where the seat was termed “marginal” it has wiped that description
cleanly off the board with a return of a 5675 majority compared to 382 from
2016. This is clearly a mandate from the constituents to continue the valued
work and representation by Lee Waters and the party in government at Cardiff
Bay. The reward only comes when you put in the hard work and experience the feeling
of support by the people that you represent and this is replicated in the
number of seats that Welsh Labour has won in this election.
Welsh Labour will always look after
the constituents in their areas and wards at all levels of the political
spectrum. Those that decide the grass is greener under a different colour
rosette really should leave the political playground because when you leave and
experience failure there really is no way back…Here’s to another 5 years in
Cardiff Bay and if the results of Thursday’s ballot are a taste of things to
come Welsh Labour is coming to bring the better life to the many not the few…
Thought for the Day…
