Looking good in Wales...but the Indian strain could put a damper on England...

One more person in Wales has died with Covid-19, reports Public Health Wales (PHW). The latest death was reported in the Swansea Bay Health Board area and takes the total number of reported deaths to 5,558. A further 59 people have tested positive for the virus, taking the total number of cases to 212,041. Wales' seven-day infection rate remains 8.9 cases for every 100,000 people, the lowest for almost nine months.

The daily rolling average is 0.9 deaths a day and there have been 18 days since 20 March when no death occurred. Currently 94% of communities have fewer than two cases a week. The number of people who have had their first coronavirus vaccine dose is almost at two million with 1,975,820 people vaccinated; also 877,756 have received their second dose.
