No new deaths of people with Covid-19
has been reported in Wales, according to Public Health Wales. It means the total number of deaths reported by PHW remains at 5,557.
A further 22 people have tested positive for the virus, taking the total number
of cases to 211,983. The seven-day rate of infection has risen ever so slightly
from 8.8 cases for every 100,000 people in Wales to 8.9. Wales has only two localised hotspots currently Stow
Hill in Newport and Pembrey/Burry Port in Carmarthenshire. 94% of communities
have had two or fewer Covid positive tests in last week and the rolling average
of deaths is 0.7 per day.
The number of people who have had their first
coronavirus vaccine dose is almost at two million with 1,961,670 jabs. Of
those, 863,469 have received their second dose.

Thought for the Day…
The Social Care Sector which includes all the hard working, diligent,
caring and empathetic staff that looks after the very vulnerable of society are
the forgotten army since the lockdown 14 months ago. Currently the call by
unions and the public is the poor pay rise offered to NHS staff. Whilst I support the implementation
of a substantial pay rise for the NHS let us not forget the salaries of social
care staff are borderline National Living Wage and if anyone deserves support
to increase their rate of pay it is the social care staff throughout the UK, without their hard
work and commitment life would be even more despondent for many vulnerable people...Below is a headline today but on On
24 July 2019 Boris Johnston declared: “I am announcing now on the steps of
Downing Street that we will fix the
crisis in social care once and for all with a clear plan we have prepared”
Social care staff will wait with baited breath to see if the promise ever materialises... or is this how the Government will deal with Social Care reform?
