Day 2 of the lifting of restrictions...apparently pubs are not bursting at the seams...has the message been received?

The Covid-19 case rate in Wales has slipped back into single figures, with just 32 new cases recorded by Public Health Wales. There were no new deaths with Covid, meaning the number of deaths remains at 5,560. The weekly case rate now stands at 9.5 for every 100,000 people in Wales, with only three council areas in double figures, Newport, Cardiff and Wrexham.

Of the new cases, 6 were reported in Cardiff and 5 in Newport. However, the case rate in both areas has fallen, dipping to 29.7 per 100,000 in Newport, and down to 18.8 cases per 100,000 for Cardiff. The rate slightly increased in Wrexham to 11 but this reflects just three new cases in the authority area. The lowest rate is now Denbighshire at 2.1 per 100,000 with just two Covid cases recorded in the past seven-day period.

Covid-19 vaccine update: 2,035,905 people in Wales have now had their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. 927,215 people are now fully vaccinated.
