Start of another week...

There have been 2 further Covid-related deaths reported in Wales. A total of 5,540 people have died with coronavirus Public Health Wales (PHW) said. The deaths reported on Monday were in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area in North Wales and the Hywel Dda Health Board area in West Wales. One death occurred last Thursday and the other on Saturday. Another 102 positive tests were reported from the weekend as PHW no longer publishes the data on Saturdays. Wales' Covid case rate stands at 15.9 per 100,000 people in the past week, the lowest since 3 September.

The figures show that 87% of all local communities have had fewer than three Covid positive tests in the past week. The daily rolling average for deaths is 1.4 per day but there have been eight days in the past month when no death has occurred. At the height of the pandemic in January, the daily average reached 48.

 

On vaccinations, there were 7,165 first doses and 1,349 second doses given on Sunday the lowest combined number since 21 February. The total number of first doses stands at 1,692,463 53.7% of the population and 602,807 second doses, which means 19.1% of the population have completed the full vaccine course.
