We are aware the coronavirus
vaccine stops us from becoming seriously ill, but we don't know if it can stop people
from passing the virus to others. Even after vaccination, everyone still needs
to follow the rules, like keeping 2m and self-isolating if contact has been
made with a positive case.
Two more people have died with Covid-19 in Wales, reports Public Health Wales. The total number of deaths reported to Public Health Wales (PHW) now stands at 5,521. The latest deaths were reported in the Aneurin Bevan Health Board area and the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area for North Wales. A further 126 cases have been reported, taking the total to 209,942. The seven-day rolling case rate per 100,000 has dropped to 24.8.
The highest case rates were in Swansea, with 44.1 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Neath Port Talbot 43.3 and Gwynedd 42.5. The lowest case rates were seen in Bridgend 7.5, Ceredigion 11 and Powys 12.1. Gwynedd currently has the highest proportion of positive test results at 4.9%.
PHW said 1,493,192
people have now received a first dose of the vaccine, and 469,251 have had both doses and are
fully vaccinated.
