A further 8 people have died with Covid-19 in Wales since Saturday reports Public Health Wales. The total number of deaths reported to Public Health Wales (PHW) now stands at 5,519. A further 189 cases have been reported, taking the total number of positive tests to 209,816. Data was not released by Public Health Wales on Easter Sunday, so figures released on Monday cover a 48-hour period rather than the usual 24 hours. 5 of the latest deaths were reported in the Aneurin Bevan Health Board area, which covers the Gwent valleys. 1 death was also reported in each of the Powys, Cwm Taf, and Cardiff and Vale Health Board areas. The seven-day rolling case rate per 100,000 has dropped to 28.1.
The highest case rates were in Gwynedd, with 55.4 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Anglesey 51.4 and Swansea 49. The lowest case rates were seen in Bridgend 9.5, Powys 9.8 and Ceredigion 12.4.
PHW said 1,490,372 people have now received a first dose of the vaccine, and 467,683 have had both doses and are fully vaccinated.
