Another day, another report with good news...no Covid-19 deaths in Wales...let it continue forever...

March 2020 will never be forgotten, it was the time when the world was thrown into a future of doubt and unfamiliar territory… The world as we know it unsure of what to expect or what was going to take place. After all we have been through it seems contradictory to talk about a third wave when the second is still so firmly on the way out. Cases, hospital admissions and deaths are a fraction of what they were at their peak in January. The long lockdown and the rapid rollout of the vaccine have been highly effective. But the daily stats give false reassurance; there is still a lot of virus out there. One in every 370 people is infected. And the more we mix as lockdown is lifted, the greater the opportunity the virus has to spread. Let us prove them wrong and kick any third wave off the park.

There have been no new Covid deaths reported in Wales in the last 24 hours. The total number of people who have died remains at 5,521 reports Public Health Wales. A further 82 positive cases have been reported, taking the total to 210,023. The highest case rates were in Cardiff, with 37.3 people per 100,000 testing positive for the virus in the past seven days, followed by Anglesey 35.7 and Gwynedd 34.5. The lowest case rates were seen in Bridgend 8.2, Monmouthshire 10.6 and Powys 10.6.

A total of 1,502,641 people have now received a first dose of the vaccine, and 475,570 have had both doses and are fully vaccinated, PHW confirmed. Wales' case rate is now 22 per 100,000 people the lowest since 6 September.
