Bank Holiday bonus...Start the weekend with no reported deaths...

No further deaths of people with Covid-19 have been reported in Wales, according to the latest daily Public Health Wales figures. It means the total number of deaths reported by PHW remains at 5,550A further 36 cases were reported by PHW on Friday, bringing the total to 211,494.  The seven-day rolling case rate is now 11.3 per 100,000 people.

Wrexham, Cardiff and Newport each saw 5 new cases reported on Friday, while 3 were reported in Flintshire and Swansea. All of Wales' 22 council areas have been under 50 cases per 100,000 one of the key thresholds for easing restrictions since the start of April, there is little between them. Small clusters or spikes in cases can lead to case rates fluctuating but the overall picture shows them all very low. 7 areas are among the 20 lowest in the UK.

 

Newport has the highest case rate in Wales at 25.2 per 100,000, but is down from 30 on Thursday. This is followed by Swansea 22.3 and Wrexham 22.1. Monmouthshire has the lowest case rate in Wales with 2.1 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Denbighshire 4.2 and Ceredigion 5.5.

 

A total of 1,830,964 people have had a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. The figures also show 748,700 people in Wales have had both doses of a vaccine and are fully vaccinated.

In the Hywel Dda Health Board over the last week: Carmarthenshire: 20 cases, 12 of which tested in hospital. Ceredigion: 4 cases, all of which tested in hospital. Pembrokeshire: 7 cases, 4 of which tested in hospital.
