Wales is open for Easter...Let us all play our part in keeping it open...

No further deaths with Covid have been reported in Wales in the past 24 hours, reports Public Health Wales. It means the total number of deaths reported remains unchanged at 5,505. But a further 171 cases have been reported, taking the total number of positive tests to 209,066. Locations of the new cases were 28 in Swansea, 24 in Cardiff, 19 in Neath Port Talbot, 11 on Anglesey and 10 in Gwynedd. The seven day rolling case rate per 100,000 population has fallen again to 37.8, compared with 38.5 on Friday. The weekend generally reports a lag in reporting of deaths so it may retrospectively change.

Merthyr Tydfil still has the highest case rate at 134.3 followed by Anglesey at 114.2, Swansea on 62.3, Flintshire at 57.7 and Blaenau Gwent at 54.4. A total of 13,013 tests were carried out in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

A further 22,228 people have now received a first vaccination and the total now stands at 1,387,583 which is equivalent to 44% of the total population. A total of 11,920 people have now had a second vaccination, so that total now stands at 412,663 which is equivalent to 13% of the total population.

Thought for the Day…

On this Sunday when no deaths were reported in Wales, please continue to do your best to follow the safety guidelines so that we have many more days with no families losing loved ones to this deadly and destructive pandemic that has cost so many lives up until now. The bonus will be that all families can get together and share the chocolate risk free that is in the form of Easter eggs...
