At the start of the Easter holidays, please
continue to follow the safety guidelines so that we have many more days with no
families losing loved ones to this deadly and destructive pandemic that has
cost so many lives up until now. Enjoy the break and the chocolate and at the
end of the next two weeks hopefully we will have made a big stride back to
normality.
One further death with Covid has been
reported in Wales in the past 24 hours reports Public Health Wales. It means the total number of deaths reported to the health body now
stands at 5,506. A further 125 cases have been reported, taking
the total number of positive tests to 209,191.
The death was reported by Swansea Bay University Health Board area. The seven
day rolling case rate per 100,000
population has risen slightly to 38.1,
compared to 37.8, previously.
Merthyr Tydfil still has the highest
case rate although it has fallen from 134.3
to 127.6 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Anglesey,
up from 114.2 to 118.5 and then Swansea on 65.2, up from 62.3. The three areas with the lowest rates are Ceredigion
on 5.5, Bridgend on 17.7 and Monmouthshire on 21.1.
A
further 13,167 people have now received a first vaccination and the total now stands
at 1,400,750, which is equivalent to
44.4% of the total population. A
further 4,199 people received a
second vaccination, taking the total number of people who are now fully
vaccinated to 417,000, which is
equivalent to 13.2% of the total
population.
