12 further deaths from
coronavirus in Wales have been reported by Public Health Wales. Another 195 cases
have been recorded, taking the total confirmed number in Wales to 205,788 and
the total deaths to 5,424. Wales' overall case rate stands at 43 cases
for every 100,000 people. 5 of the deaths
were in the Cardiff and Vale Health Board area and 3 were in
the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area, which covers North Wales. There were 2 deaths in the Cwm Taf Health
Board area, which covers Rhondda
Cynon Taf, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil, and 2 more in Swansea
Bay Health Board area.
The local authority with the highest number of
cases in this period is Merthyr Tydfil with 94.5 per 100,000 people. This is followed by Conwy 75.9 and Wrexham 73.6. The lowest case rates in Wales are in Ceredigion 11.0, Pembrokeshire 15.9 and Monmouthshire 21.1.
The number who received a first dose of vaccine hit a million on Tuesday, with the total figure now at 1,034,141. Of those, 221,902 have had their second jab.
