Another 6 deaths from coronavirus in Wales have
been reported by Public Health Wales. A further 225 cases have been logged, taking the total
confirmed number in Wales to 205,593 and the total deaths
to 5,412. Wales' overall case rate has been dropping consistently,
with 42 cases per 100,000 people. Of the
deaths, 3 were in Hywel Dda Health Board area, which covers
West and Mid Wales. 2 were in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board
area and 1 was reported by Powys Health Board area.
Wales' overall case rate for the seven day period 27 February to 5 March is 41.9 cases per 100,000 people. The local authority with the highest number of cases in this period is Merthyr Tydfil with 86.2 per 100,000 people. This is followed by Wrexham 72.1 and Anglesey 71.4. The lowest case rates in Wales were seen in Monmouthshire 21.1, Pembrokeshire 15.9 and Ceredigion 9.6.
A total of 1,019,210
people have now received at least a first dose of a Covid vaccine in Wales and 206,394 have had their
second jab.
