Another 18 people have died with coronavirus in
Wales, reports Public Health Wales. It takes the total deaths reported
to 5,403 since the start of the pandemic. A further 152 cases
were also reported, as Wales' case rate, which measures infections per 100,000
people, fell to 46, the lowest since 18 September. 11 of
the deaths were in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area, which covers all of
North Wales. 3 deaths were in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health
Board area, 2 in Cardiff and Vale Health Board area, while the
Hywel Dda Health Board area and Swansea Bay Health Board area both
reported 1 new death each.
Gwynedd still has the highest case rate in the country, despite its rate dropping to 79.2; Anglesey 74.2 and Conwy 73.4 have the second and third-highest case rates respectively. Ceredigion has the lowest case rate of any Welsh county, with 16.5 cases per 100,000 people, while Pembrokeshire's case rate stands at 16.7. No new cases were reported in Ceredigion on Sunday.
Half of Wales' 22 local authority areas reported a drop in case rates, 5 authorities Rhondda Cynon Taf, Conwy, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Powys remained stable, while 6 authorities Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Wrexham, Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan all saw increases.
A further 19,531 vaccine doses have been
administered, with 995,059 people having received their first injection.
