Another 7 people in Wales have died with
coronavirus, reports Public Health Wales. It takes the total number of deaths reported by PHW to 5,385.
A further 195 new coronavirus infections were also reported on
Saturday. The case rate in Wales, which measures the number of infections
per 100,000 people over a seven-day period, has fallen
to 48. Cardiff and Vale and Betsi Cadwaladr Health Boards
reported 3 new Covid-related deaths each. Cwm Taf Morgannwg
University Health Board recorded 1 death.
Gwynedd continues to have the highest case rate in the country, although the rate fell from 89.1 to 85.1 on Saturday. Caerphilly 73.5 has the second-highest rate, while Conwy 73.4 now has the third highest rate after a fall in the number of new infections. Pembrokeshire 16.7 has the lowest case rate in the country, followed by Ceredigion 22 and Rhondda Cynon Taf 26.9. Fourteen of Wales' 22 local authority areas reported a drop in case rate on Saturday. Blaenau Gwent and Flintshire remained the same, while the number of cases per 100,000 people grew in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Wrexham, Anglesey, the Vale of Glamorgan and Merthyr Tydfil.
Another 29,721
vaccines were also reported in the latest figures, with 16,377 people receiving their first dose and 13,344 completing their full course. More than 983,000 people have now had their first dose of the Covid vaccine.
