Nine more people have died with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales. There have now been 5,476 deaths of people with Covid reported to PHW since the start of the pandemic. Another 201 cases have also been reported, taking the total number of positive tests to 207,438. The seven day coronavirus case rate in Wales has now risen slightly to 43.7 cases per 100,000 people.

6 of the deaths were in Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area. This takes the total number of deaths in the Health Board area to 920. 1 death each was reported by the Cardiff and Vale Health Board area, Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area and Powys Health Board area.

 

The local authority with the highest case rates for the latest seven day period up until 14 March was Merthyr Tydfil with 147.5 cases per 100,000 people. This is followed by Anglesey 89 and Flintshire 76.9. The lowest case rates are seen in Bridgend 20.4, Monmouthshire 16.9 and Ceredigion 6.9.

 

The number of people who have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine now stands at 1,204,101 with 318,497 having had both doses.
