6 more people have died with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public
Health Wales. There have now been 5,482 deaths of people with Covid reported to PHW since the
start of the pandemic. Another 208 cases have also been reported, taking the
total number of positive tests to 207,646. The seven-day coronavirus case rate in Wales has
dropped slightly to 42 cases per 100,000 people.
3 of the deaths were in Cardiff and Vale Heath Board area; this takes the total number of deaths in the health board area to 787. Single deaths were reported by the Aneurin Bevan Heath Board area, Hywel Dda Heath Board area and Swansea Bay Heath Board area.
The local authority with the highest case rates for
the seven day period up until 15 March was Merthyr Tydfil with 131 cases per 100,000 people, a drop from 147.5
cases. This is followed by Anglesey with 114.2
cases per 100,000 people, up from 89 cases and Flintshire 66.6. The lowest case rates are seen in
Pembrokeshire 18.3, Monmouthshire 14.8 and Ceredigion 9.6.
The number of people who have received their first
dose of the coronavirus vaccine now stands at 1,231,830 - a rise of 27,729
on the previous day. A further 10,554
received their second dose taking the total to 329,530 having had both doses.
