Numbers have increased again...The light is shining but with a distinct flicker...

Another 30 people have died with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales. It takes the number of Covid-related deaths to 5,175. There have also been a further 374 cases reported today, with Wales' overall case rate falling to 86 for every 100,000 people.


Of the new figures Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area reported 15 new deaths, taking its total to 851. Cardiff and Vale and Hywel Dda Health Board areas had 4 new deaths each; with Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area and Swansea Bay Health Board area having 3 deaths each and Powys Health Board area reported 1 new death.

Wrexham still has the highest case rate in Wales, with 125.8 per 100,000 people. This is followed by Flintshire 122.4 and Powys 116.3. The lowest case rates are seen in Pembrokeshire 51.7, Bridgend 47.6, and Ceredigion 24.8.

 

The total number of people in Wales who have had their first dose of a Covid vaccine is now 807,351. 2nd Covid jab doses have been given to 12,988 people.

Please remember, just because you’ve had the vaccine, it does not mean it is safe to ignore the rules and guidelines. It is not known whether it will stop someone catching and passing on the virus, but we do expect it to reduce this risk. So, it is still important to follow the guidance in your local area to protect others.

When this is all over and we can plan holidays again, how about a visit to the Caribbean...walk in the warm sand and dip your toes in the deep blue sea...
