Milestone passed today in Wales... 200,000 cases total... Normality is not within touching distance just yet...

Another 14 people have died with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales. It takes the total number of Covid-related deaths to 5,189. There have also been a further 290 cases reported, with Wales' overall case rate falling to 83.7 for every 100,000 people. 



Betsi Cadwaladr, Swansea Bay and Hywel Dda Health Board areas each saw 3 new reported deaths, taking their cumulative totals to 854, 742 and 426 respectively. The Cardiff and Vale and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board areas reported 2 new deaths. Aneurin Bevan Health Board area saw 1 more death.

 

Wales' case rates for Covid in the past seven days have dropped from 86 cases per 100,000 people on Wednesday to 83.7 on Thursday, with 17 out of Wales' 22 local authorities now under 100.


Flintshire has replaced Wrexham as the county with the highest case rate in Wales at 126.8, although it has dropped from 122.4 on Wednesday. This is followed by Wrexham 117.7, Anglesey 112.8 and Powys 111.8. The lowest case rates are seen in Ceredigion 26.1, Pembrokeshire 48.5 and Bridgend 49. 


The total number of people in Wales who have had their first dose of a Covid vaccine is now 822,633. Second Covid jab doses have been given to 19,342 people.
