More deaths to start the weekend...Perhaps a change in the weather might help us all...

Another 22 people have died with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales (PHW). The total number of Covid-related deaths in Wales is now 5,106. There have been a further 400 cases reported, with Wales' overall case rate falling to 99 cases for every 100,000 people.

The new deaths, 6 were recorded in the Cardiff and Vale Health Board area, 5 in Swansea Bay Health Board area, and 4 in the Hywel Dda Health Board area in West Wales. There were 3 deaths in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area in North Wales, 3 deaths reported in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area in South-East Wales, and 1 death in Aneurin Bevan Health Board area which covers the old Gwent region and Caerphilly County.


Wrexham, with 186.1 cases per 100,000 people, and Flintshire 161.4, still have the highest case rates in Wales, although both reported falls in recent days. Ceredigion has the lowest case rate in Wales at 33 per 100,000 people, closely followed by Pembrokeshire 46.9, Monmouthshire 65.5 and Swansea 67.2. Wales' overall case rate, which measures the number of new cases over seven days per 100,000 people, continues to fall, down to 99 from 102.

33,000 people have now received their first Covid vaccine dose, taking the total to 749,445. 2nd Covid jab doses have been given to 4,224 people.
