Another week drawing to a close...Normality appears to be close but not quite close enough yet...

There have been 1,761 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW bringing the total cases to 796,922. There were 5 coronavirus deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,894. The latest infection rate based on PCR tests, for the seven days up to February 5, now stands at 412.9 cases for every 100,000 people a reduction from the 427.9 recorded on Wednesday. For more information on the Covid figures released on Thursday go to Wales Online...

The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 30 and February 5 was Carmarthenshire with 597.5 cases per 100,000, followed by Newport with 499.1 and Cardiff with 492.8.

Hywel Dda Health Board shows 308 cases reported today with 149 in Carmarthenshire, 83 in Pembrokeshire and 76 in Ceredigion. As of February 9 there were 1,101 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus a fall on the 1,109 on February 8.
