Finally the fight to reward the NHS staff...What about the Social Care Staff...?

In the press, radio and Social Media today UNISON the biggest union in Wales and the UK has been pushing the need for a NHS pay consultation. Whilst I will support the implementation of an appropriate pay rise for NHS staff that have given their all for those that have been hospitalised and sadly died due to the Coronavirus and are still fighting to save people from the virus that is not leaving our shores let us not forget the efforts of social care staff that have also given their total commitment during this period of darkness.

One such sector is the Community & Voluntary Sector that supports all the hard working, diligent, caring and empathetic staff that looks after the very vulnerable of society. Salaries in the Community and Voluntary Sector are borderline National Living Wage at best and if anyone deserves support to increase their rate of pay it is the social care staff throughout Wales and the UK.

Reward NHS staff yes but do not forget the Social Care staff for their immense effort during the last eighteen months, and for the effort going forward in the unknown timescale that this pandemic will be present in everyone’s lives... without their hard work and commitment life would be even more despondent for many many people...
