One more Covid-related death has been
reported in the past 24 hours in Wales. It brings the number
of people who have died with coronavirus to 5,543, Public Health Wales (PHW) reports. The latest death was
reported by Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board, which covers Bridgend, Merthyr
Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf. Another 63 positive cases was confirmed bringing the total to 211,104.
Wales' Covid case rate has dropped to 14.6 per 100,000 people, down from 15.2
on Wednesday. Half of Wales' 22 council areas have single-figure seven-day case
rates. The area with the highest case
rate is Gwynedd, where 28.9 people
per 100,000 people have tested
positive for the virus in the past seven days, followed by Newport on 26.5 and Swansea with 25.9. The areas with the lowest case rates are
Blaenau Gwent 1.4, Pembrokeshire 3.2 and Monmouthshire 4.2.
Figures show 1,727,455
people have now received their first vaccine, an increase of 15,083 on Wednesday's figures. Both vaccines have been given to 635,655, a daily increase of 13,142.

We are aware the coronavirus vaccine stops us
from becoming seriously ill, but we don't know if it can stop people from
passing the virus to others. Even after vaccination, everyone still needs to
follow the rules, like keeping 2m and self-isolating if contact has been made
with a positive case.
