Two
more people have died with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales
(PHW). The total deaths now are 5,454 reported to PHW since the
start of the pandemic. Another 248 cases have also been
reported, taking the total number of positive tests to 206,653. The
seven-day coronavirus case rate in Wales has remained at 39 cases
per 100,000 people, the lowest since 16 September. There
was 1 death in Swansea Bay Health Board area and 1 in
the Cwm Taf Health Board area.
Merthyr Tydfil continues to have the highest rate of Covid cases in Wales, with 144 cases per 100,000 people in the last week, followed by Anglesey 92.8 and Conwy 70.0. Ceredigion 5.5 has the lowest number of cases followed by Pembrokeshire 14.3 and Monmouthshire 16.9.
The number of people who have
received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine increased by 9,433 to
1,122,931 and second doses were up by nearly 6,900 to 264,255.
