Even the darkest times have the promise of brighter days ahead...

Another 35 people have died in Wales with coronavirus; reports Public Health Wales. It takes the total number of deaths of people with Covid-19 in Wales to 4,867. There were also 544 new Covid infections reported in the last 24 hour period, taking the total number of cases to 194,525.

 

Of the new deaths, 10 were reported in Cardiff and Vale Health Board area while 7 were in Betsi Cadwaladr in North Wales. 5 deaths reported in both Swansea Bay Health Board area, 5 in Aneurin Bevan Health Board area which covers South-East Wales. There were also 4 deaths in Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board that covers Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil and 4 in Hywel Dda Health Board in West Wales.

 

Wrexham continues to be the local authority area with the highest case rate 311.1 people per 100,000 population have tested positive for the virus in the past seven days. That is followed by Flintshire with 228.1 and Carmarthenshire with 147.3. The areas with the lowest case rate are Ceredigion with 44, followed by Monmouthshire with 74 and Gwynedd with 75.5.


Figures show that 490,570 people have now received their first coronavirus vaccine dose, with 1,216 receiving their second.
