Deaths in single figures...The gate on the bridge to relaxation of rules...the key is still not available...

Another 9 people have died with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales. It takes the total number of Covid-related deaths to 5,246. A further 319 cases have been reported, with the overall case rate dropping to 80 cases for every 100,000 people.


The Hywel Dda Health Board area in West Wales reported the most new deaths with 5 taking the area's total to 440. The Cardiff and Vale and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board areas both reported 2 further deaths. Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area which covers Merthyr Tydfil, Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf has seen the most deaths overall during the pandemic with 1,457.

Anglesey is the local authority with the highest case rate 112.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to 17 February. This is followed by Flintshire 109.5 and Cardiff 103.8. The lowest case rates in Wales are in Ceredigion 33, Pembrokeshire 55.6 and Bridgend 56.4.

 

The total number of people in Wales who have had their first dose of a Covid vaccine is now 862,248. Second Covid jab doses have been given to 42,752 people.
