Another 21 people have died with
coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales (PHW). It takes the total number of Covid-related deaths in Wales to 5,032. There has been a further 323 cases reported, with Wales' overall
case rate falling to 111 cases per 100,000 people.
The new deaths, 7
were recorded in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area in North Wales, 5 deaths at Hywel Dda Health Board in West
Wales and 5 deaths at Cardiff and
Vale Health Board. 2 deaths in the
Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area which covers Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr
Tydfil and Bridgend and 1 each in
the Powys and Swansea Bay Health Boards.
Wales' overall case rate, which measures the number
of new cases over seven days per 100,000 people, fell slightly from 114.3 on Tuesday to 111.4 on Wednesday. Half of Wales'
council areas case rates dropped, while two remained the same. Nine local
authority areas recorded higher case rates compared to the previous days'
figures. Ceredigion continues to have the lowest case rate in Wales, with a
case rate of 57.8 and are closely
followed by Pembrokeshire and Swansea.
Wrexham, with 217.7 cases per 100,000 people and Flintshire 203.7, still have the highest case rates in Wales, although both
reported falls in Wednesday's figures.
Another 26,659
people received their first Covid vaccine dose, taking the total to 655,419. 2nd Covid jab doses have been
given to 3,687 people.
