Numbers up today...time to think of better times ahead...

Another day in stay at home mode. Had a walk with Alfie, might even have another one it is nice to get out albeit a wee bit damp. As it may be quite a while before the virus is eradicated completely from our lives we have to look to the future and our thoughts turn to resuming normality, holidays if affordable will be a must for some. So to endeavour the lifting of spirits I have put together some photographs of past holidays in Aruba, Cape Verde and Mexico. We all need to ensure now that our lives will not be blighted forever by the current circumstances by following the rules so that we can walk on the golden sands of our favourite holiday destinations once more…

Another 49 people have died in Wales with coronavirus, reports Public Health Wales.  It takes the total number of deaths with Covid since the start of the pandemic in Wales to 4,610. There were also 537 new Covid infections reported, taking the total number of cases to 189,689.

Ceredigion has the lowest case rate at 86.7 per 100,000 people, followed by Conwy with 127.1. The Wales average is 204 per 100,000.

The total number of deaths involving Covid-19 in Wales has reached its highest weekly total of the pandemic. There were 467 deaths in the week ending 15 January, which are 13 more than the week before, this was nearly 40% of all registered deathsBoth Betsi Cadwaladr and Cwm Taf Morgannwg health boards saw their highest weekly numbers, more than experienced during the first wave. Betsi Cadwaladr had 74 deaths while Cwm Taf Morgannwg had 116. Unlike during the peak in the first wave in 2020, Wales is also now seeing higher numbers of deaths in north Wales and west Wales.
