Another three weeks of lockdown...are vaccinations helping the cause...?

Well, we are still under the spell of this malignant pandemic, the reported numbers fall and then rise back up so no exit yet to this dreaded virus and its deadly effect on the population of not just the UK but the whole world.  I have a little granddaughter called Olivia Ada and because of the virus I am only able to see her via Facetime. In my opinion last year not the best year to make an entrance to this sometimes cruel world but she has arrived and is a delight… So Grampa will get the chance to take his bundle of joy out for a walk again at some point this year. Everyone needs to get together and follow the rules and guidelines so that normal everyday activities can resume, ignore and it will seem that we will forever be in the grip of uncertainty and death that will cause grief and sorrow to many more families.

Another 25 people have died in Wales with coronavirus; reports Public Health Wales.  It takes the total number of deaths with Covid reported since the start of the pandemic in Wales to 4,720. There were also 737 new Covid infections reported, taking the total number of cases to 191,677.

Of the reported deaths 6 were in the Swansea Bay Health Board area, 6 in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board area which covers North Wales, 5 deaths in the Hywel Dda area of West Wales, and 3 in the Aneurin Bevan Health Board area which covers the old Gwent region and Caerphilly County. Also 2 deaths in the Cardiff and Vale Health Board area, 2 in Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area which covers Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil. There was also a further death in the Powys Health Board area.

In total 2,413,146 Covid tests have been carried out in Wales, with 1,508,492 people tested. A total of 15,565 tests were carried out on Friday. The latest figures from PHW show that Wales' seven day case rate is now 160.6 per 100,000 people.

Wrexham has the highest rate with 417.8 cases per 100,000 people followed by Flintshire on 308.1 cases. Ceredigion has the lowest case rate with 48.1 cases per 100,000 people, followed by Pembrokeshire with 95.4 cases per 100,000.

Figures showed 378,200 people have now received their first coronavirus vaccine dose and 750 have received both doses.

Thought for the day...

Life is hard at the moment but think positive and the light at the end of that very long tunnel will appear. When it does we will be able to resume some sort of normality and families will again be able to get together... Let us all hope it will not be much longer...We need to return to the scene below...

Stay safe everyone...we will get through this...
